Working from Home, Day 11

I can see my neighbors’ driveway from my home office window. All 4 of their cars have been parked in that driveway for 2 weeks and a day now, and they haven’t moved in all that time.  One is so close to my yard that I feel a neighborly duty to check the wind forecast before running my sprinklers. Fortunately, it rained a lot week before last.

This morning, a little after 10, a car pulled up and parked just beyond the driveway in front of the neighbors’ house, and a blond man with a light blue hoodie and a haircut like my stylist’s got out and walked toward the front door. I went back to watching a PowerPoint on Skype.

A few minutes later, the Blond Visitor – not my stylist – was leaning on the right rear fender of his gray Infiniti Q-something talking to someone.  He had a “work” badge clipped to his belt, so I assumed he was on a Bluetooth, but then I saw an arm wave and spotted my Neighbor standing between two cars in his driveway, at least 10 feet away.  Looked like a work conversation, but why in person?  Back to Skype.

20 minutes later, the PowerPoint slides were finished, my Skype was over, and the Blond Visitor was still talking to the Neighbor, although it had warmed up and he had removed his hoodie.

I stood up to practice “telework” exercise, as though I was Walking(!) back to my desk from the conference room.  I briefly considered walking outside to offer Neighbor and the Blond Visitor a hearty handshake and congratulations on maintaining Social Distance, but I got distracted by the Hershey’s Nuggets.

The Blond Visitor was gone when I got back upstairs to my office. Neighbor had, I presume, gone back inside to shelter in place. Never found out why they had an in-person meeting on the sidewalk.  Pressed “Join” for the next Skype.
