[Honky-Tony music has a TICka-TICka-TICka-TICka beat.]
I had megalomaniacal plans to write all about my 2-week visit with Marilyn (my granddaughter) in Greensboro in near Live Tweet time and garner a million-plus followers.
I was overwhelmed the first 36 hours, but I managed to find the laptop and the power cord and scratch out general headings and angles. Then I expended my intellectual energy learning how to watch sports in a non-sports house, where all sports are called “Sportsball,” and then watching sportsball all weekend and Monday on Eastern time and sampling local craft beers. And video games. And keeping up with a 4.75YO.
After hour 36, it’s all rapidly fading memories. (Maybe that’s a good thing.) I have tried to organize them into topics:
· Shuttle service and center seats
· Suspected Trump voters in the bank parking lot, and other banking stories
· The correct route to school
· The correct route to the Arboretum
· Grandparents at dance class
· The Cleaning People
· The beauty salon; aka the haircut place
· You can spell pretty good for someone who can’t read.
· Wear closed toed shoes to go on the climbing apparatus.
· How to open remote doors from the driver’s seat, and other fancy safety features.
· Local food
o First Carolina Deli
o McDonald’s in 2019
o Italian past bedtime
o Grits
o Local BBQ
o Pepper Ramen
o Chinese Food Delivery
o Dame’s Chicken and Waffles
· Shopping at unfamiliar stores, with a 4YO with allergies
· The cats’ nightly exercise
· Video games and grandparents
· Where the chocolate is kept; or, improvising the marshmallows for cocoa.
· What is enough prescription medicine?
· The sprinkler ball and the balcony
· Trees and woods
· Google Maps; Fun ideas and navigation failures
· Friends
Whaddya wanna hear about first?
