Monday Night Baseball in California April Style

Loved the baseball program’s tease-out tonight to the bottom of the ninth in a 2-2 game (Yankees @ Angels):

1) 1-second highlight clips of all three swinging punch-outs of Yankee pretenders by some Halo Hurler you Haven’t Heard of in the top of the 9th, with music you faintly recognize in the background;

2) cut to Trout the Great jogging in from Center Field to the closing synth part in “Won’t Get Fooled Again;”

3) cut to Swinging Trout launching a big fly, with the Scream going “YYYEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!” on the soundtrack;

4) cut to the Speedy Mike Trout rounding third and shaking hands with the 3rd Base Coach while Roger sings, “Meet the new boss.”

Brilliant. “My God!” you’re thinking, “Trout can win the game with one swing.”

So you decide to watch the 9th.

Then it goes into extra innings, which we can’t have on a school night.

On an unrelated note, last night it took almost two hours to go 57 miles back toward the city, but I had The Beatles Channel on the Sirius, and I heard “Back Off Bugaloo” for the first time in years and marveled once more at the lyric “Ringo, meathead, folks pretend that you are dead,” so I didn’t mind the drive and I might be ready for a new car.
